Pancakes for Water

Pancake Brkfst Kitchen Shot

Circle on the Square undertook organizing a pancake breakfast in order to help raise funds for completion a much needed water irrigation project in the community La Calera. The breakfast was held Sunday October 6 at Solid Rock Restaurant and  with some very generous donors and many pancake eaters, we collected over $400 and we have been promised more to come soon.  Three ladies from La Calera worked hard to prepare the plates with a sumptuous serving of cut papaya, watermelon and banana which looked beautiful alongside Santiago’s golden fluffy pancakes. A good time was had by all and we thank everyone who participated and donated to this worthy cause.  We still have more funds to raise, but we are on out way!  You can still contribute by dropping off a donation to Circle on the Square.

  1. You did a great job, Julie! You got that whole thing put together in record time and made soooo much money. Considering the very low cost of living in Cotacachi…that amount translated to here would be about $1,000!

  2. Julie- I am so proud of you for doing this! You inspire me.

    • Thanks so much for your kind words, Lynne. Today I will meet with people who are working on this project together. Some indigenous from teh community of La Calera, and some ‘gringas’ as well. Women working together really do make things happen around here!
